Welcome to Garland!
As a suburb of Dallas, Garland enjoys many of its own sights and attractions that draw visitors. Home to the oldest, continuous running opry in Texas, the Garland Opry features live gospel and country music. Another venue that is sure to entertain visitors is the Patty Granville Arts Center, which contains two theaters that host a variety of musical and dramatic productions. A popular past-time in Garland are water sports, and the city offers many water-based recreational facilities including: Aqua World for scuba diving; Lake Ray Hubbard, a stocked fishing hole; and Surf and Swim Wave Pool for family swimming. The city is also home to Firewheel Golf Park, a 63-hole public course that is recognized as a PGA qualifying site and has hosted the Texas State Open. Its close proximity to Dallas and Fort Worth makes Garland a great base for visitors as they explore the area.
